Clarissia Bourdeau

Clarissia Bourdeau is a Program Associate with the Membership and University Relations team at Scholar at Risk (SAR). SAR is an international network of institutions and individuals whose mission is to protect scholars and promote academic freedom. The SAR Network is composed of over 600 universities from 42 countries working collaboratively to promote academic freedom and arrange temporary academic placements for scholars.

SAR’s three programmatic areas, protection, advocacy, and learning, create various opportunities for members to get involved. On the Membership and University Relations team, Clarissia works collaboratively with SAR Partner Networks, universities in under-represented regions, and international associations to build strategic partnerships that aim to build university hosting capacities and raise awareness of SAR programs and initiatives, including the Vivian G. Prins Speaker Series.

Clarissia holds a B.A. in Political Science from Georgia State University and an MSc in Human Rights and Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to joining SAR, Clarissia worked directly with refugee high school students transitioning into higher education.
