SPEAKER BIO

Lebethe D. Malefo

Lebethe Malefo joined the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2012 in the capacity of Director: Study Abroad and International Student Services. He joined UJ from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (Wits), where he had been Acting Head, Deputy Head and Manager of International Partnerships and Collaborations in the Wits International Office (WIO). He has also been Coordinator of Mobility Programmes and Administrator in the Africa Office of the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Lebethe is currently reading for a PhD in Public Management and Governance at UJ. He holds a Master of Arts in Politics from UJ, a Postgrad Diploma in Organisation and Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and English, both from UCT.

In his career, he has administered and managed large-scale Africa-focused projects which brought African academics and students closer to each other. These included the University Science, Humanities, Engineering and Law Partnerships in Africa (USHEPiA) at UCT, The South Africa Norway Tertiary Education Development Programme (SANTED) NEW 2 at Wits and the Africa by Bus Programme at UJ. He has worked extensively in the area of mobility programme conceptualisation, development and implementation.

Lebethe has build expertise in immigration support, student support, student development and leadership support and process facilitation.
