Nonnie Falala

Nonnie Falala currently serves as the Manager: Student Support & Operations at the University of Cape Town’s International Office, where she leads operations, builds strategic relationships, and ensures successful international student support initiatives. She collaborates with stakeholders and participates in committees that deliberate on matters impacting students, in addition to managing the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Stream.

Her career at UCT began in 2001, and has held key roles, including overseeing operations for a School with five interdisciplinary departments, managing staff, finances, and academic processes. She also contributed as a warden, enhancing student social well-being and integrating students from diverse backgrounds into residence life, and initiated the first short course unit within one of UCT Faculties. Nonnie holds an Associate in Management Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, both from the UCT Graduate School of Business, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).  Her approach to student support is heavily shaped by her wide-ranging experience in both academic and residence life at UCT, emphasising the importance of incorporating students’ opinions, viewpoints, and interests into every facet of activity planning and the decision-making process, thereby improving the effectiveness of her student support strategies and policy implementations.
