She also contributed as a warden, enhancing student social well-being and integrating students from diverse backgrounds into residence life, and initiated the first short course unit within one of UCT Faculties. Nonnie holds an Associate in Management Certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, both from the UCT Graduate School of Business, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).  Her approach to student support is heavily shaped by her wide-ranging experience in both academic and residence life at UCT, emphasising the importance of incorporating students’ opinions, viewpoints, and interests into every facet of activity planning and the decision-making process, thereby improving the effectiveness of her student support strategies and policy implementations.
